Beyond the Edge of the Map

The imagery of boats has always been a point of intrigue for me.  They are so beautiful and detailed, delicate, but strong.  Boats traditionally mean travel, adventure on the high seas, and ultimately, freedom.  They are an incredible feat of ingenuity (finding materials that float, using the wind to push you along, discovering that stars are a stable directional guide), especially when you think about how there is evidence of boat-like structures dating around 900,000 years ago.  They are one of the main reasons for man's survival, and enabling curiosity of what else is out there.  And they just look really cool on everyday things.
