Our Best Hours
Well, tomorrow is the day! I'm all packed and ready to go. It also happens to be the Opening Ceremony for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. I'm not a big fan of the summer sports, but I imagine we'll watch some of the gymnastics and maybe the diving while we're at the beach. I think it's neat that there is a Refugee team this year. One of my favorite parts of the Olympics is the fact that the whole world comes together not only to watch the events, but to send their best athletes with pride. Most smaller countries have no chance of winning (sadly, they don't have the money or necessities to train like athletes do here or in other wealthier countries), but just going to represent their country on the world scale is enough. Sure, some of it is about winning, but most of it is about the world community and acceptance of people different than yourself. It's such an amazing tradition; unbelievable that it's been held from the 8th century b.c. all the way to now.
