You Have But One Question to Answer: How Shall This Day End?
Yesterday I also upped the status of our fantasy movie collection, big time. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies came out on dvd on Tuesday, so I of course had to get that. And just last week, Taylor and I were wanting to watch the first couple Harry Potter movies, and went to Target to buy them, assuming they would have all of them for sale. We were wrong. Then this week, at the very same Target, they had four-disc sets of the entire series split into two, for nine dollars each! I texted Taylor to let him know the good news, and minutes later, I was in line, ready to purchase. Now we definitely have the first couple weeks of summer movie watching laid out for us!
One Better, Orrrrr Two
Yesterday Mom, Dad, and I went to see good ole' Doctor Hartig, the eye doctor. His little office probably hasn't changed since the '60s, and he still has a story I wrote in the third grade about how glasses changed my life hanging on the wall; however, the blue construction paper background has since changed to a faded grey. My prescription hasn't changed, which is a good thing. I'm not sure how much worse it can get! I did pick out a new pair of frames, though. They're big, tortoiseshell, and called Modern Slick. Don't they look good?

All the Purposes of the Mind
In one of my classes this week we discussed Education and the Law. As you would expect, it was rather dry. On days like these, when my classes get too into the politics and details, I like to think about the reason I want to do this. This insert in a book Taylor brought home over Spring Break sums it up pretty well.

A Backyard Revolution
For the regular followers of the blog, you'll know that food is a big thing in our house. And season transitions are probably the most exciting time. That means soup in the fall, and bbq in the spring! As mentioned in the previous post, we tested out some grilled apples and peaches on the big Sunday dinner, and on Tuesday Dad and Taylor honed the recipe.
The burgers were put on next, while the onions and zucchini were moved around to accommodate.
True barbeque masters, they are. And I held up the documentation end of things.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, look at that zucchini!

Yard Time
The other day was so nice out that Taylor and I had yard time on the back lawn. Lemonade was poured, shoes were taken off, and interesting tidbits from our respective books were shared.

We Had A Slight Weapons Malfunction, But Everything's Fine Here, Now, How Are You?
Last night we had a big, celebratory family dinner, complete with Grandmas, Aunts, Mom, Dad, and Brother. Dad whipped up one of his premium specialties, tortilla soup, and paired it with grilled fruit, and a variety of green condiment items. I even tried the greenest thing that green can be: avocados.
We also found a delightful new beer selection from Rogue called Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Try it, it's awesome.
For dessert I made a new brand of dairy-free brownies, which were quite delicious. Contrary to my thin and dry expectations, they were extremely rich and chocolatey. Mmmmmmm.
And to cap off the evenings this week, Taylor and I are watching the Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition, as it was meant to be watched, on VHS. This packaging is probably some of the best design I've ever seen.

The Earth Without Art Is Just Eh
Ahhhh Monday...another week begins. This week is different though because Taylor and Mom are on Spring Break! I also have a light workload for the week; two of my classes were cancelled (one for the school being on spring break and one for the teacher being on spring break), and I have an extra day off of work. But the best thing is, it actually feels like spring outside!
While waiting for Taylor to arrive on Saturday, I ventured over to a small sculpture park for some personal style pics. I've been trying to pare down my wardrobe recently, which has been quite the project, but in doing so I have come across a few pieces I haven't seen in years. This skirt, for example. I got this in high school when denim mini-skirts were all the rage. I decided to pair it with stripes, tights, and a scarf to make it not so teenager.

Oo De Lally, Oo De Lally, Golly What a Day
Two days ago was the official start of spring weather. You know why? Because it was the first day deemed eligible to wear gladiators.

Shaken By Nostalgia
I do have to say, one of the less-important things I miss about Nashville is the abundance of city-like backgrounds for personal style pics. Kirkwood, and the surrounding areas, don't have the same charming run-down-building vibe of East Nash, or areas that frame a beautiful skyline of skyscrapers and old south architecture, or really, a skyline at all. As much as I love the natural backgrounds available around here, it would be nice to find a city-like spot or two.
