When in school, I spent many a lecture practicing up on my doodle skills, filling margins with whatever my imagination held that day (in between taking detailed notes of course), so transferring that interest to a pair of shoes that I rarely wore was a logical solution. It was basically the same thing, except with a permanent marker instead of a ballpoint pen, and on canvas instead of notebook paper. The result:
