In This Day and Age

I have come to discover a rule of the universe, an observation of true merit, a decree of human nature.  It is really hard to pull off wearing a hat.  Unless you're a cowboy, or are modeling for a high fashion photo shoot, hats just look a bit ridiculous (remember the royal wedding?).

However, there is one exception to the rule worth mentioning.  Ladies who are grey in the hair, who are in their golden years, and who are no spring chickens anymore can wear and rock any kind of hat, of any size, of any color, or of any flowers, feathers, birds, or sprigs of material springing from it.  This picture was taken at the restaurant at a fraternity formal earlier this year.  All of us college-ers knew right away, that even in our carefully selected dance dresses, strappy shoes, and fancy makeup, none of us would even come close to looking as awesome as these ladies in hats.
