Little House on the Prairie
Last night a couple of my friends and I had a pow-wow in the little town of Garden City. It was typical farm country, complete with cornfields, gravel roads, and lots of cows. All I wanted to do was don an outfit like one of these and frolic through the rows of fields and stare at the enormous cloud-spotted blue sky.

Stay in the Sway
My first real attempt at an almost monochromatic look. The grey fits nicely together, with the black belt splitting them up but uniting them together at the same time. Turned out pretty well, I think.

The Topper Tier
Before haircut
After haircut
My hair hasn't been this short since I was about four years old. Definitely a weird, but much lighter, feeling.

Barking Dogs
Today, while running, I twisted out my ankle. This ankle gets agitated on occasion due to a figure skating injury sustained six or so years ago. It had nothing to do with wearing shoes like this. If I had to guess, these ladies will probably have a foot problem or two somewhere down the line.

Truth Beauty Freedom Love
The trailer for Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby just hit IMDb and is taking the all-things-screen-related website by storm, and worthily so. Luhrmann's strategy of modernizing classics and period pieces by pulling out all the stops and turning color, fashion, and music all on its head is beautiful to watch. He's on my list of celebrities I want to meet and hang out with because they would be so cool. Just look at the posters for his movies, how would having a creative discussion with him not be dramatically life-changing?

Night as Dark
And to go along with this whole black and white motif, here are some straight up black ensembles with a little flair, in the form of sequins, structured cut-outs, and spontaneous rips, making them more interesting than the run of the mill little black dress.

Sails to See
Now that it's officially summertime, complete with upper 80s temperatures, the smell of barbeque permeating the stagnantly humid air, after dinner horseshoe games, driving with the windows down, gladiator sandals, and the faint signs of newborn tan lines, I really want to go to the beach. And when I'm there I'll take some pictures that will lend themselves nicely to the black and white look. Actually, it might be impossible for a beach picture to not look good in black and white.

Seems Upstream
I am going to a wedding in a few weeks but I'm having difficulties deeming what is summer wedding appropriate. I think I'll take a little inspiration from Serena and Blair on old school Gossip Girl, seeing as how they are on the sensei level of dressing impeccably for events.

A Day to Remember
This past Saturday I graduated from Drury University, majoring in Design Arts and Fine Arts, and minoring in French and Global Studies, cum laude. This is why the posts have been rather lacking in the past week; graduating, moving out, and trying to hang out with as many people as possible requires a lot of time and effort. It was fun to see how many cords and sashes people have to go with their robes: most of the time the people who are drenched in regalia are the ones you expect (those people who are involved in Greek Life, RA/CA, a sport, and every type of club, but you never really see them because when they aren't in all of their activities, they study), and then there are the people who you only see at parties, and you see them at all the parties, but somehow they managed to graduate with honors and have cords for other achievements and organizations as well. I had cords for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha (blue and silver), Gamma Sigma Alpha, a greek academic honor society (red and gold spiral), and for receiving cum laude honors (red and silver).

Deceptively Uncomplicated
A lot of people describe me as a modern day hippie, which is weird because this skirt is the only hippie-ish, flower child, free love-y kind of thing that I own.

Ten Steps and Turn
I woke up this morning wishing that I was way out west somewhere riding a horse, wearing a holster, and basically just being a really awesome cowboy. Because that's not really possible, I settled on just dressing in the cowboy vein. I started by pulling out both of my vests, a frequently worn staple in many a western film. Instead of choosing just one, I threw on both over a button-up t-shirt and paired it with belted blue jean shorts. Giddy up.

The Creative Schism
This is my last week of classes ever, which is why I haven't updated in a few days. I've been finishing projects, writing papers, and studying for my one final. Here's a little sample of my most recent projects in painting, drawing, sculpture, and graphic design.
