The Blue and Red Zone

Well, happy late Independence Day!  We had a lovely day filled with American independence activities.  Not really, but I was off work so I was up and around all day.  We started the morning with a trip to Kaldi's, and since it was raining, it was nice enough to sit outside, under the awning, of course.

On the way home we stopped by the grocery store to pick up some things for dinner.  The rain was supposed to let up and the grandma's were coming over for dinner so we thought barbecue would be good.  Taylor and I set the table in extreme patriotic fashion; we even found a plate with Washington Crossing the Delaware on it!

Dinner was delicious.  We even had little sponge cakes with a strawberry-honey-agave sauce over whipped cream for dessert!

After Nana and Grandma left, we had another beer out in the garage over a game of pool before the fireworks show.  And because it rained most of the day the garage wasn't super hot.  We were able to get a few games in before go time.

We headed up to our usual spot at the bank but to our surprise, the parking lot was packed with cars.  In years past it's just been us and maybe another couple or two with their lawn chairs, but this year it was like a drive-in theater!  Oh well, our spot on the wall was still open, our neighbor friends, the Stewarts, came up to join us, and the fireworks were fun to see.  Happy late Fourth, everyone!
